Classes

Ballet for Pre- School Children

Using creative and imaginative ideas and through storytelling, we introduce movement to music and simple technique in a subtle and fun way. This builds confidence, improves social skills, and encourages all children to become engaged learners.

Classical Ballet Lessons

We deliver classical ballet classes using the Cecchetti method of training. Fun and creativity are integral to our lessons and live music inspires and motivates young dancers to achieve their best within a positive and happy learning environment.

Chelsea Ballet Schools gives opportunities to partake in a bi-annual Nutcracker Gala performance with English National Ballet company. We encourage those children with a natural aptitude and facility for ballet to apply and audition for further training programmes, such as Cecchetti Associates, the Royal Ballet School and English National Ballet Associates.

Tap & Musical Theatre

Children from 5 years enjoy these lively classes. Current and past West End and Broadway shows are introduced, building confidence in these young performers.

Examinations

Enjoyment and confidence are of prime importance for a young child beginning ballet and the ‘Standard Examinations’ (or ‘Class Examinations’) and ‘Performance Awards’ provide ideal opportunities for those attending on a once-a-week basis. These ballet examinations are designed to be suitable for everyone. Entering children for examinations is not compulsory, and some children choose to move on without taking examinations.

All Examinations are taken on Chelsea Ballet Schools’ premises with a registered visiting examiner from the Cecchetti branch of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.

Method

Chelsea Ballet Schools uses the Cecchetti method to train its young dancers. This Italian method of Classical Ballet offers a complete and well-structured system of training, which caters for the small child through to the professional dancer and the future teacher. The ballet world has different training methods for learning the art of ballet: each one is unique in style and appearance, yet they all can produce brilliant ballet dancers.
